Wrestlemania XXX

The city of New Orleans hosted WWE's main event, Wrestlemania, for the first time ever this past weekend. I'm very glad to say that I was a part of it.

Wrestlemania XXX took place on Sunday, April 6 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The pre-show festivities included a full weekend of a wrestling fan's paradise beginning last Thursday. Wrestlemania Axxess held at the Convention center hosted a roster of WWE's favorite superstars in fan interaction driven activities. There were autograph signings and photo sessions. I worked all of these events, and I was amazed at how dedicated and diverse the fan base was. People came from all over the world. I came across so many who didn't even speak English, but they all traveled so far just for the love of it, and were so happy to be there.

I worked as a brand ambassador for Totino's, the comapny who makes pizza rolls, and I had a blast all weekend with that team. Sheamus, one of the wrestler's works with the company, so on the last day we met with him for a little greeting and photo op.

On the first day working, one of the wrestlers who I wasn't familiar with was signing autographs and he caught my eye because he was absolutely gorgeous! I had no idea who he was, but I soon found out that he goes by the ring name Roman Reigns.

I used to love to watch wrestling when I was younger, and was really into it for a while, so I was pretty excited myself to see some of my old favorites.

On the day of Wrestlemania, I worked in Champion's Square. Doors didn't open until 3:30, three hours before show time, but people were lined up in swarms long before then. It was insane. I don't think I've ever seen so many people in one place, ever!

Doors didn't open until 3:30 p.m., this was around 1. Insane.

I originally had no plans on attending the main event, but right when the show was about to start, our event managers told us that we had tickets and could go in if we would like to. Of course I did!

We actually had great seats! They were first level, and compared to some people who paid big money to sit up way higher, I'd say we made out pretty good.

Of course I have to be typical Kaitlyn and tell you how pretty the set up was. The lighting was everything! It complemented each superstar's entrance and theme so well.

John Cena's was my favorite.

Throughout the whole weekend, I was seeing these branded T-shirts and merchandise with slogans and saying that I just didn't understand. The fans would randomly start chants and leave me so confused as to what was going on, but it all came together for me at the main event. When the superstars came out, it all made sense. I found myself completely immersed by the wrestling entertainment before me, just as I did as a kid. That little girl in me who used to watch Smackdown every Thursday night came right back out of me. I was surprised at how quickly my knowledge of the techniques and rules of wrestling came back to me. I was even schooling the people next to me on what was going on. I got so excited when my new favorite reason to watch wrestling - Roman Reigns- came out along with his partners, The Shield. I missed their entrance though because they appear through the crowd, not the typical way and by the time I saw them, they were already in the ring.

The most shocking part of the whole night was the undefeated Undertaker's streak coming to an end. My jaw dropped on that third count that granted Brock Lasner the win and making Undertaker 21-1. I witnessed Wrestlemania history. In all honesty, I still can't believe it.

I must acknowledge the passing of The Ultimate Warrior. It's so crazy that he was just inducted into the Hall of Fame, and I saw him at Wrestlemania on Sunday and now only a few days later, he has passed. I even took a silly photo in the Face Off booth at Axxess wearing his mask. You never know what life may bring. May he rest in peace.
