Starlets of Street Style

My favorite celebrity styles have to go to Rihanna and Cassie. They've always had styles that are so different from everyone else's and they can switch it up like no other.  They're two of the few people who can pull off just about anything.

Cassie

She really killed this.

Oh, and just for the record, I think Cassie is pretty much the most gorgeous girl ever.
Rihanna
I've never attempted denim on denim, but she wears it well.
very well.
Mint skater skirt, plunging neckline with the bodychain. YES!
all white, alright.
I wantttt this shirt!
From the haircuts, to nail designs and even tattoos, Cassie and Rihanna are always setting the trends that I see people following.

Oh, Forever 21..

For my first years of high school, Forever 21 was pretty much the only place I shopped. Then after a while, I started getting tired of their clothes, drifted to other stores and never looked back.
Recently, Forever has been re-capturing my attention more and more. They've got a whole new look, new models, new everything. Where did they get all this swag from??

I'm loving this new dark, hipster, street fashion thing they've got going on. Even the models have a new, edgy vibe.

They're making more pop culture references from icons to rap songs, and even taking inspirations higher end designers.
Hmm.. Alexander Wang much?

Check out a few of my favorites from their Capsule 2.1 collection.

I'm pretty much in love with this whole look.
California Gorgeous Muscle Tee

Checkboard Bodysuit I'd wear this as a swimsuit
How adorable is this Minnie Bodysuit
It's also worth it to take a trip on over to the Shop by Outfit page as well.

Well done, Forever. Well done.

My Favorite Stores

Everyone who knows me knows I HATE the mall! Online shopping is definitely my thing. You could say I have a bit of an obsession, so naturally, I have I few favorites, and I'd like to share them with you.

boohoo.com - great deals on apparel. They usually have a coupon code on the site that you can apply at checkout, so you'll get a discount each time you shop.

GoJane has a great selection of shoes, which is what I first started shopping there for. Then I took me a while to realize they also had clothes I loved. GoJane's campaigns keep up with the latest trends and you can shop by each specific trend, or by look. They have a pretty awesome blog, as well that features giveaways and more. Also, check out their Facebook where they give out a pair of shoes every week.

H&M just recently launched their e-commerce site. I was pretty excited because I wanted this option forever, since we don't have one here in New Orleans. We'll be getting one soon, though. :)

Tobi has 30% new arrivals daily, and 50% off your order for new members. You get another 50% off for inviting 5 friends. Sign up now via my link.

I had stopped shopping at Forever21 for a while, but they made a huge comeback for me. They've got great street style looks, which are some of my favorite.

Last but certainly not least, eBay is one of my absolute favorite places to shop for things like accessories. I usually buy purses, jewelry and shoes from this site. I think I'll do an eBay post later on.

Promo Modeling

Some of the easiest and funnest money I've ever made is by doing work is as a promo model. There are several promo companies all over the world that hire talent (typically at great pay) to staff events. These events can range anywhere from in-store demos, to sporting events, to music festivals and beyond. Not only do you get to attend all these great events for free, you get paid, as it's considered your job. This is a great way to meet new people and have fun on the job, not to mention make great money.

All you have to do is register with companies to start receiving invitations to events. I'll list some of them below. Schedules are extremely flexible because you only work events that you sign up for. E-mails are sent out in advance with information about an upcoming event, and companies get back to you letting you know if you're booked.

I've done work with Super Bowl XLVII, Essence Music Festival, Coca Cola, the American Idol Tour and many more through working as a promo model.

Style Crush: Aila Wang

Can I just take a moment to rave about this pint sized fashion killer who I want to keep forever? Aila Wang takes the crown for the most fashionable kid around; and dare I say, even among the ranks of adults two and three times her age. As the niece of fashion designer Alexander Wang, it would be difficult for little Aila to NOT be this dope.

Am I the only one who wants to put her on my shelf? Such a doll.

The shades, the sneakers, the stance, not to mention the mini Chanel bag. Boss.
She does street fashion so effortlessly. Too much swag for that little body.

Yes, that's a custom miniature Rocco bag. Jealous yet?

I can only hope and pray that one day I have a child as adorably dope as Little Miss Aila. Until then, I'll just be admiring this tiny fashionista.

New York Fashion Week: Herve Leger

The Hervé Léger Fashion Show took place Saturday, September 7 as a part of New York Fashion week. This show in particular caught my attention because my love, Nicki Minaj, was in attendance. (I've had something of an obsession with her for years now) Anyway..

Here are a few of my faves from the collection.

This sickening little two piece might be my favorite from the collection. It's simple and elegant.Perfect for lying out on an island under a palm tree.

Don't you love this gold zipper motorcycle jacket?
Makes you want to hop on the back of someone's bike.
I'm always a fan of black paired with gold.
Loving the intricate cut out design of this crop top.
YES! Blazer!
Details. Details. Always here for a good cutout and some exposed zippers.
Love this look as well. Makes a statement on the runway,
but looks like job interview attire for the fashionable.
I'm a fan of the Hervé Léger Spring 2014 RTW collection. It perfects the balance between classy and sexy. I think that's the one word I'd use to describe it: balanced. The pieces are flawlessly detailed, yet simple. Just the right amount of embellishments to set off the design without going overboard.

Too often designers call their collections "ready to wear" and they are actually nothing of the sort. However, this collection is true to that. These pieces have you covered for looks from business casual to by the pool, to a night out. It encompasses the essence of a multi-faceted woman.

Check out all the looks from the show and the rest of the collection.

Of course I couldn't end this post without some photos of my dear Nicki. ;)

Probably my favorite picture of the day.

Nothing Comes to Sleepers But a Dream

Here I am. 20 years old. Senior in college, with only one semester left before graduation. And today it hit me. Hit me like a ton of bricks. After December, I'm done with school. Forever.

Time has always been my cushion. I've always thought, "Oh, I have time to figure that out." "That won't be happening for me any time soon." But it is. It crept up on me, and now the time is almost here.

I know exactly where I want to be, I'm just not sure how to get there. I'm looking into the face of my future, and I can't lie - I'm terrified. Terrified of the unknown, of what's next, of making the wrong decision, of... failing.

I'm sure there are tons of people in my position right now feeling the same way, but I only allowed myself about one hour of feeling this way, and then had to shake myself out of it, because I knew that would get me nowhere. I had to start contacting people, reaching out and sending e-mails letting companies know I'll be in the job market soon.

If any of these feelings sound a little too familiar, then it's time for you to shake those fears as well and replace them with opportunities. Make yourself so busy with promoting yourself and networking that you have no time to worry about what's next.

Get an internship.
By now you should have had one, or a few; but if not, start applying to some NOW. Companies look for people with experience. Ever notice how job applications always ask for previous related experiences? Well, you need experience just to get experience, crazy cycle, I know, but it's necessary so get to work.
Finding an internship isn't difficult. Depending on where you go to school, your college may offer an internship database. My school, The Manship School of Mass Communication at LSU does. More than likely you'll be able to find an internship related to your field right on campus via the various departments of the college. Apply. Apply. Apply.

Always take the interview.
Even if the job may not seem ideal, go to interview anyway, you may end up liking it, and if not, you can always decline the offer afterward.

It's never too early.
Over the summer, my ant asked if I had started applying and contacting PR companies for post-graduation employment. I looked at her like she was crazy and thought it was way too early. Turns out, I was the crazy one. It's never too soon to start contacting companies to let them know that you will be in search of a job within the coming months. Make that connection. They can always just keep your resume on file for the future. Some jobs have long training/hiring processes, so the sooner you get in touch, the better. If you wait, it could be too late.

Social Media
Twitter is good for much more than just sharing your opinions on celebrities, and trends - it's a great networking tool. You can use t to link with professionals in your field as well as view job listings without having to do in-depth searching.
